Since the mid-twentieth century denim became a symbol of rebellion among youth, there have been many bands and artists who have used it as the protagonist of the covers of their albums. Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Ramones ... Today we take a tour of the most mythical album covers where the acclaimed jeans appear.
Like many of you, 'Born in the U.S.A' by Bruce Springsteen is the first album that comes to mind. Published in 1984 by Columbia Records, this album was recognized by the music press as one of Springsteen's best works. It managed to reach the 15 million copies sold in E.E.U.U. and more than 30 million copies internationally, and it was the best selling album of 1985 in the United States.
The song that gives name to the album, 'Born in the U.S.A.', became one of the anthems of the time against the participation of the United States in the Vietnam War.
Another of the best covers of discs with jeans is the Sticky Fingers, The Rolling Stones, released in 1971. Number 1 of the lists of the best-selling albums of Billboard, this record came to be considered one of the best materials of Contemporary Music.
Its cover was designed by Andy Warhol himself and includes for the first time the logo of the Stones - made by John Pasche -.
Another of the albums that stand out is the 'Ramones', the first album by the American band Ramones, published in 1976 and considered by the music critics as one of the most influential in punk and rock in general. Thus, this album occupies the thirty-third place in the list of The 500 Best Albums of All Time of Rolling Stone magazine.
The cover of this first album of Ramones greatly influenced the design of the back covers of his albums and many photos of the band.
Among the best record covers with jeans, is the Blah-Blah-Blah by Iggy Pop, from 1986, the artist's first single to reach the Top Ten in the United Kingdom. The only single from the album, 'Real Wild Child', reached # 27 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
Finally, highlights the Deep Purple compilation 'Mark I & II', from 1973, a double LP that contains material from the band published between 1968 and 1973.
