You will agree with us that jeans are one of the most universal garments that exist, a basic present in any wardrobe even in almost any movie! We show you: today it's time to review some of the billboards in which jeans take center stage.
Rebel Without Cause
First of all, we highlight the billboard of Rebel Without a Cause -1955- by Nicholas Ray. A film starring James Dean that tells the story of three young rebels who meet in a police station detained each for a different reason.
The film, which featured several nominations for the Oscars and the BAFTA Awards, has a billboard featuring James Dean with jeans similar to our Flamingo: a slim-fit medium waist and slightly elastic fabric. Stylish, current and very versatile.
Taxi Driver
Another one of the billboards in which jeans take center stage is Taxi Driver -1976-, a feature film by Martin Scorsese. The film, starring Robert De Niro, deals roughly with a veteran of the Vietnam War who works as a night taxi driver in New York and lives obsessed with the violence and desolation that dominate the city.
Nominated for several Oscars and Golden Globes and winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and several BAFTA in 1976, Taxi Driver is today a cult film. On the billboard we can see Robert De Niro in jeans that could well be a Ray: a denim medium waist and straight cut, comfortable and timeless.
The seven magnificents
In the western movies jeans also take center stage, and as an example we have the billboard of The Magnificent Sieges -1960-, by John Sturges. In the film the humble inhabitants of a Mexican town hire seven relentless gunmen, each with a special skill in the handling of weapons, to defend them against a band of outlaws.
On the billboard is shown 'The Magnificent Seven' with jeans of different shades and colors, very similar to our Owens: a denim straight cut and high waist, with a classic touch.
Kill Bill 2
Newest is Kill Bill 2 -2004-, by Quentin Tarantino, where the protagonist -Uma Thurman- continues her fight to eliminate the rest of the band members who tried to assassinate her on her wedding day and who had given her up for dead. Critically acclaimed, Tarantino's film won several nominations for the Golden Globes.
Uma Thurman appears on the billboard with a bell jeans in the style of our Joplin: a 5 pockets of medium waist, bootcut and stretch fabric for comfort and movement capacity -see the photo-.
This Is England
And finally, another of the billboards in which jeans take center stage is that of This Is England -2006-, by Shane Meadows. The film is about the summer vacation of '83 in which a lonely child whose father has died in the Falklands war is adopted by a group of skinheads.
On the billboard we can see a large repertoire of jeans. Our Petty would not be out of place: a high waist semi-skinny and 100% cotton fabric, resistant and comfortable. Perfect for day to day.
